Addiction psychiatrists are medical doctors who specialize in the treatment of people who have substance use disorder. This includes substances like alcohol, medicines, or illegal drugs.

Addiction psychiatrists can be board-certified through the Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, which is recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
